Our Own End Minneapolis, Minnesota

Four dudes from Minneapolis playing "punk rock." Formed in early 2007 with members of Sofakingdom (MPLS), Class of 86 (MPLS), WSDS (CA) and Yellow Parachute (Midj). They like long walks on the beach and sunsets, as well as keeping up on fashion trends in the music industry and being cutting edge. It is important to them to be cool and liked by whoever everybody else cool thinks is cool... ... more

Track Name: Red Tape
helpless. can’t move can’t think can’t sit.
can’t do a thing about this shit. watching in slow
motion. red tape with red eyes.
Track Name: Newspeak
When habit turns into tradition,
the soldier becomes a troop, stupidity into innocence.
detention was once abuse. differences become alien,
science absurdity. the fear of death. the search
for meaning. The stranger the enemy. A prisoner now
a detainee. we’ll target a shopping mall. we’ll
define women and children as damage collatoral.
the story becomes religion, becomes a mission,
becomes a war. defense is now preemptive. killing’s a
fucking sport. hell hath no fury like a gitmo holding
cell. habeas corpus, sounds greek to me, we’ll have
our lawyers work this out. aggressors are now
crusaders, pedophiles now clergymen. invading
armies liberate. oppression is heaven sent.
Track Name: No Future
There ain’t no future, future for minds.
there ain’t no future, future for mine. i won’t miss mine.
lost it back in 2003, ran off to spread democracy I think.
i used to think. justified not politicized. a war of good,
we’re the good guys, i think. i used to think. now i can’t
recognize faces once despised. with the past so far
behind there’s no future for minds.
Track Name: I Love the Smell of Commerce In the Morning
Passed by one more today. a symbol of
success portrayed in bleak conformity to standards
they call excellence. following protocol, they’re
cleaning heaven’s walls. so why’s it smell like shit
the closer to god we get? And who draws up the lines
that are calculated to confine the highest probability
of comfort value & self worth. less is less and more is
more. just keep on adding up the score. you’ve got nothing
to fear. the light is drawing me near. when you say you’ve
got the numbers be well aware they’ve figured you in
they’re math. be well aware they’ve got you by the throat!
Track Name: Ghost Town
people passing by are all strangers.
aprehensive, distrusting & scared. Windows all boarded up
or broken. its been years since anyone cared. ghost town!
there are no signs of a struggle. like blood flows to limbs
gone limp. highways & bridges have crumbled away after
hopes & dreams did the same. ghost town! there may have
been days when the sun shown. the sky now forever
grey. homes are broken, abandoned. left surrounded by the
ones who would stay. buildings fall into the cut bank.
weeds push up through the cracks. with the patience of
decay this town is taken back.
